Sunset over the Pacific from the bluff at Ocean View Stables

Executive leadership retreats Built for the leadership team, not the department.

Decision-making under pressure, read back to you by a horse that does not know your title. One day for six to ten leaders, or two days on the bluff.

The intensive

Feedback that is hard to argue with

The Executive Intensive is for an intact leadership team. The work happens on the ground with horses, because a horse responds only to what you are actually doing, in seconds, in front of your peers. That is where the day's strategic conversation starts.

The one-day format is a full day for six to ten leaders, with individual debriefs, one beach-ride wave where the whole team rides together, and a 90-day follow-up session. The two-day Stay by the Sea format adds a night in the private pods, all meals, an evening Cowboy Cookout and a sunrise session, for ten to sixteen.

We are straight about the evidence: published research on equine-assisted leadership work is early and largely self-reported. So we measure your session, with a pre and post read and manager check-ins at 30 and 90 days.

At a glance

  • One day$8,500 for 6 to 10 leaders
  • Two days$1,295 per person for 10 to 16
  • RidingNot required; the work is on the ground

How it works

From first call to 90 days on

  1. Step 1 Scoping call

The team, the decision in front of you, and what a good outcome looks like.

  2. Step 2 The day, or two

Herd observation, individual and team challenges, the ride, and written commitments before anyone leaves.

  3. Step 3 30 and 90 days on

Manager check-ins against the commitments, then the 90-day follow-up session.

FAQ

Questions executive teams ask

Not answered here? Call (415) 969-1223.

No. The leadership work happens on the ground. The single beach-ride wave is on calm horses with a handler for every rider, and anyone who prefers can stay on the bluff.

The half-day and full-day programs are for departments and teams of up to 20 or 25. The Executive Intensive is sized for six to ten leaders, with individual debriefs and a 90-day follow-up built in.

Yes. Add the private facility buyout at $6,500 and the ranch closes to the public for your day.

In the private pods on the bluff above the Pacific, each rented whole, with all meals at the barn.

About twenty minutes from the Financial District and Mission Bay, and twelve from SFO.

Written commitments from the day, a team behaviour read, and on the measured format a pre and post comparison with the 30 and 90-day check-ins.
