Twelve weeks at Ocean View Stables. Students learn to read a horse, lead it with soft, clear asks, and ride it. Small rotating crews, real responsibility, no experience needed.

Ground first, then the saddle

Every student follows the same path as our Academy riders. No one rides until they can read and move a horse safely from the ground.

Weeks 1 to 3: Knowledge

How a prey animal sees the world, reading ears, eyes and posture, safe zones, grooming and daily care.

Weeks 4 to 8: Groundwork

Haltering and leading, pressure and release, yielding the hindquarters, building a horse's confidence, and the round pen.

Weeks 9 to 12: Riding

Tacking up, safe mounting, balance and steering with feel, ending with a show day for families.

How a session works

Up to 14 students split into three crews of 4 to 5. Each crew spends 20 minutes at each of three instructor-led stations: the Horse station, the Skills station and the Leadership Lab. Everyone works hands-on with a horse every week, and a crew leader, a role that rotates weekly, runs the safety check.

Three trained instructors every session, never more than 5 students per instructor, helmets provided, and an electronic release waiver signed by a parent before week 1.

Questions parents ask

No. The season starts from zero, behind the fence, and builds to riding by week 9.

$1,500 for the full 12-session season, which works out to $125 per session. Helmets, horses and materials are included.

Yes. Schools can reserve a full group of up to 14 students and be invoiced directly, or families can pay with enrichment or vendor funds where their charter allows it. Email zachary@oceanviewstables.com.

Safety is taught before any skill. Calm, school-proven lesson horses, three instructors per session, helmets for all ground and riding work, instructor-led riding only, and a 240 lb rider weight limit.

Heavy-rain sessions move to a covered or classroom format, or are made up at the end of the season. Reply to any of our emails if your student will miss a session.

Students receive a certificate and skills log, and can continue into the Academy's Level One program, then lease a horse of their own.

Seats are capped at 14 per program.

Register your student today, or email us to reserve a full group for your school.
