At Ocean View Stables, we're redefining the concept of trail riding by infusing every journey with the principles of natural horsemanship.

At our core, we are a horsemanship school, not a traditional trail riding business, with a mission rooted in education, safety, and skill development. Every session begins with a hands on introduction to horse behavior and safety, emphasizing horse psychology and proper handling before any riding occurs. Participants then engage in structured horsemanship instructions on riding techniques under close instructor supervision. Only once everyone feels comfortable with their horses do we consider transitioning to riding down the trails, and even then, only if our team determines the rider is ready. Any outdoor ride, such as to the beach, is an extension of their horsemanship journey, not a casual excursion. This thoughtful, step-by-step approach ensures a meaningful, safe, and educational experience that sets us apart from standard trail operations.

We are hiring trail guides / wranglers, riding instructors, and barn & facility maintenance help for our stable on the coast in Daly City.

Horse experience is required for every position — including maintenance. The entire property is live horses. Everyone who works here handles them, moves around them, and is responsible for their safety and our guests' safety. If you have never worked around horses, this interview is not the right fit yet.

Every position starts at $18.00 per hour. As you prove yourself, your pay may go up. See the pay question below for details.

The questions below take about 10 minutes. Answer honestly and in detail — this is your application, and we read every word before you walk in the door. Thin answers get thin interviews.

Our Level One program equips you with the confidence and ability to handle horses on the ground and in the saddle, ensuring a safe and enjoyable equestrian experience. Develop your horsemanship skills through practical lessons and hands-on activities, guided by our experienced trainers. Embark on your equestrian journey with a solid foundation.

This program is more than just “horse time”—it’s the beginning of a complete education in horsemanship. By the end of Level One, students walk away with the ability to catch, handle, care for, and ride a horse with both competence and calm. This isn't about tricks or speed—it’s about doing things the right way. With respect for the horse, attention to safety, and a mindset for learning.

Graduation from Level One is a significant achievement, and a required step before students move into more advanced levels of our academy. Whether your goal is ranch work, competitive riding, or simply a deeper relationship with horses, this is where it starts.

Horse & Handler Photoshoot Experience, shot in the last light of the day

The same session, at the hour every photographer asks for.

At Ocean View Stables, golden hour is the window just before sunset when the light comes in low and warm off the Pacific. It is the most requested and most limited time on our calendar, so it is booked as its own session with its own horse and handler hold.

What's Included

  • 1.5-hour session in the golden hour window
  • A gentle, photogenic horse suited to your theme
  • A professional horse handler for the whole session
  • Access to our most scenic locations:
    • Ocean views from the bluffs
    • Barn & round pen
    • Beach trail access (optional upgrade)

Golden Hour Session - $325 (1.5 Hours)

Standard session ($250) plus the golden hour time slot ($75), booked together.

Good to Know

  • Start times shift with sunset through the year. If the posted time does not line up with the light on your date, reply to your confirmation and we will move you to the correct start at no charge.
  • All participants must sign a liability waiver
  • All riding shots must be pre-approved for safety
  • Professional photographers welcome - ask us if you need recommendations

CANCELLATION, RESCHEDULING & REFUND POLICY

This is our complete position on cancellations. It is Section 8 of our Terms and Conditions. Please read it before you pay.

1. Rescheduling - 24 hours or more. Reschedule at no charge any time up to 24 hours before your start time, subject to instructor, horse and facility availability. If we cannot find a date that works for you, the amount becomes a booking credit under paragraph 2.

2. Cancelling - 24 hours or more. Cancel at least 24 hours before your start time and we issue a booking credit for the full amount paid, good toward anything we sell. Credits do not expire. They are not transferable and are not redeemable for cash. We do not issue cash refunds for a cancellation you make.

3. Less than 24 hours, day-of contact, or no-show. Your time, your horse and your instructor are reserved exclusively for you and cannot be resold at that notice. A cancellation inside 24 hours, or a no-show, is treated as fulfilled: no refund and no credit.
