Job Description
We are seeking passionate and experienced Horsemanship Instructors to join our team. This role involves teaching lessons focused on the principles of natural horsemanship—from groundwork to trail riding—on our oceanfront property. Instructors will work with students of all ages, helping them develop not just riding skills, but a deep understanding of horse behavior and communication.
The Role
You’ll join our Horsemanship Academy as a full‑ or part‑time instructor, teaching private and group lessons for children and adults. You’ll guide riders through:
Groundwork & Liberty exercises
Under‑saddle basics through advanced equitation
Trail riding along oceanfront paths
Progress tracking and written feedback
Responsibilities
- Follow our program and deliver 1:1 and group horsemanship lessons
- Assist with seasonal camps, clinics, and demo days
- Evaluate student progress and maintain lesson reports
- Ensure safety and welfare of horses and riders
- Assess and customize training plans based on students' skill levels
- Instruct students on horse care and stable management
- Prepare horses for lessons, including tacking and grooming
- Provide feedback and progress reports to students
- Organize and participate in horse shows and competitions
- Stay up-to-date with the latest riding techniques and safety regulations
- Perform routine checks on riding equipment and ensure its maintenance
- Manage schedules and bookings for riding lessons
- Take out trail experiences as needed
- Represent our values of respect, communication, and fun
Must Have
- Extensive riding background with proficiency in trail riding
- Strong foundation in natural horsemanship (Brannaman, Dorrance, Hunt)
- Previous experience in customer service
- Knowledge of horse care and stable management
- First aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent communicator, patient with varied ages and abilities
- Reliable, organized, and team‑oriented
- Skilled in both groundwork and riding instruction
- Availability afternoons, weekends, and some holidays
Nice to have
- Experience leading trail rides or clinics
- Background in horse starting or training
- Familiarity with positive‑reinforcement techniques
- Farrier experience
