Two rider slots for students who have passed Level One, and three volunteer spots. Redwood National Park at Orick, Humboldt County.

For students who have passed Level One

Ride the Redwood Ride on a barn horse, or crew for the students who do

The Redwood Ride is an endurance ride sanctioned by the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC), held in Redwood National Park at Orick, in Humboldt County, about five and a half hours north of the barn. We are taking two students who have passed Level One to ride barn horses, and three volunteers to help the ride and our riders.

The ride: Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15, 2027, with a 35 mile ride and a 50 mile ride each day. The ride's website, still showing its 2026 edition, calls the trail moderate to difficult.

Rider (2 slots)

For students who have passed Level One; you confirm it when you sign up. The barn fee covers your barn horse and hauling to the ride. You also enter the ride itself on its own entry form, and its entry fee is separate.

Volunteer (3 spots)

Endurance rides run on volunteers. You help the ride crew and our riders through the day. No riding, and no charge.

Good to know

The ride sets its own distances, start times, rules and entry fee. Its 2027 entry forms and basecamp details are not posted yet.

Read the Redwood Ride website and the AERC ride calendar before you sign up.
